CERAMED: Identification, Recovery and Improvement of Ancient Mediterranean Ceramic Manufacturing Technologies for the Reproduction of Ceramic Artefacts of Archaeological Value.

CERAMED is a collaborative project between THETIS authentics Ltd, the National Hellenic Research Foundation (Greece) the TUBITAK-Marmara Research Center (Turkey), the Queen Rania Institute – The Hashemite University (Jordan) , the Université Mohammed, Oujda (Morocco), and the University of Barcelona (Spain)

Project Objectives:

Understanding the reproduction technology from the knowledge of the nature of all materials involved in different stages of production process to all processes applied on these materials.

Nabataean Painted Fine Ware (NPFW) is one of the high quality ceramics in the Mediterranean region. Archaeometric investigation of NPFWs, different raw clay minerals, and colored sandstones from Petra-Jordan were all performed aiming at better understanding the nature of materials, and ancient production technology.
