"Ancient
Ceramic Technology from theory to practice". March 2005
and May 2004. A 4-day seminar on ancient ceramic technology organized
in collaboration with the Department of Archaeology, University
of Athens, (Prof. E. Bournia and N. Kourou), involving both theoretical
and practical training. In the second part that took place at THETIS's
workshop, the students had the opportunity to work with clay, decorate
unfired artefacts with clay slips and experiment with the potter's
wheel. The objects produced formed part of the exhibition at
the University Museum.
"Play with ancient toys".
December 18, 2004. Educational Christmas party for two age groups of children organised at THETIS' workshop. The
younger children (3-5y old) had the chance to play with reproductions of ancient
ceramic toys (spinning tops, dolls, buzzers, marbles etc) and participated
in a theatrical play. Older children (6-11y) experimented with the potter's
wheel and made their own artefacts. Funded partially by the CERAMED
project.
"Archaic and
classical vases". December 12, 2004. A 4 hours course for
18 US, Spanish and Greek post- graduate students in Archaeology at
THETIS' workshop. The young archaeologists and their Professors
had the opportunity to work with clay, decorate unfired artefacts
with clay slips and experiment with the potter's wheel. A week later
they had an "ancient" greek ceramic souvenir form Athens. Funded
by the CERAMED project.
"Clay-Play over
time". December 2003-May 2004. A (10) session educational
activity organised at the Varvakion Gymnasio in collaboration with
the school teacher Mrs Maria Beloyanni (archaeologist, PhD) as part
of an experimental interdisciplinary course under the title ''Pilopaixnidizontas
ston chrono''.

pottery for kids". May 30-June 1 & Nov 1-2 2003. A
two-day educational programme in collaboration with the Pierides
Museum (Dr. Sophia Antoniades, curator of the Museum), at the Athinais
Center.
